As the home of America's earliest settlements, and later as the birthplace of America's industrial revolution, the people of the Northeast United States have long relied upon the streams and water bodies that define our landscape to provide our drinking water, provide recreation, support our diverse aquatic and wetland habitats, and provide power for industrial uses. For this reason, our region lays claim to more dams in excess of 100 years old than anywhere else in the United States. Now, many of these structures have deteriorated to the point of presenting hazards to their surrounding communities, while some no longer serve a current purpose.

With more than 400 dam inspections completed in the last 10 years, and the design of more than 30 dam rehabilitations, PARE is familiar with the types of dams, methods of construction, and concerns associated with the aging dams found in New England and the Northeast.  PARE has worked with public and private dam owners to evaluate options to repair or rehabilitate their structures, subsequently providing complete design, permitting and construction-phase services.  Our familiarity with dam repair methodologies and technology allows us to provide our clients with practical, efficient and cost-effective solutions.
