Kennedy Plaza Improvements
Providence, RI
This $5.5 million-dollar downtown renewal project, undertaken by the Providence Redevelopment Agency, serves as the core of Providence's urban center. Created as an auto-restricted zone with public transit access only, Kennedy Plaza encompasses 20 acres of prime downtown property that visually, as well as psychologically, improves the inner-city experience.
Pare Corporation had design responsibility for the reconstruction of vehicular and pedestrian facilities within the Plaza, including new paving design, sidewalks, traffic signals, lighting, seating, and utility relocation.
The transportation elements continue to change in response to RIPTA intermodal transportation needs, however significant Pare-designed areas of the Plaza remain untouched.
