Norwood High School
Norwood, MA
PARE is part of the design team which provided design, construction documents, and construction-phase services for the new 227,374-SF Norwood High School project, the first school to be completed under the Massachusetts Model School Program. PARE is the civil engineer and also provided supplemental geotechnical and traffic/transportation services.
PARE’s effort for the project consisted of site design including geotechnical investigations, drainage and utilities, sanitary sewer, water distribution, and site layout; athletic field design; permitting; and construction services. PARE performed a traffic impact analysis including a capacity analysis and evaluation of pedestrian safety on and around the project site.
PARE also was involved in the design of a new synthetic turf multi-use field and track and natural turf fields for the school athletics program. Field design incorporated underground drainage systems and a cooling system for the synthetic field.
During construction, questionable soils were discovered and subsequent testing indicated that due to environmental concerns, disposal at a regulate facility was required. PARE obtained the services of an LSP and coordinated with the project team for the removal and disposal of the material.
