Overview

Pare Corporation was part of a design team that provided design, construction documents, and construction-phase services for 11 new middle and high schools under the Massachusetts Model School program. Pare was the civil engineer on the Project Team and also provided supplemental geotechnical and traffic/transportation services. Schools included in this program were:

  • Norwood High School
  • Plymouth North High School
  • Natick High School
  • Abington Pre-K/Middle/High School
  • East Bridgewater Junior/Senior High School
  • Central Middle School, Quincy
  • South West Middle School, Quincy
  • Marshfield High School
  • Somerset Berkley Regional High School
  • Franklin High School
  • Hingham Middle School

Pare’s effort for each project generally consisted of site design including drainage, sewer, water, access road, driveway, and parking lot layout; athletic field design; traffic studies and safety improvements; environmental permitting; and construction services.

For the traffic studies at each location, Pare’s scope typically consisted of data collection and field observations (including manual turning movement counts, spot speed studies, and requests for accident data); a report of existing conditions in the vicinity of the project site; a safety analysis of the study area; an analysis of the traffic based on existing, future 5-year no-build and future 5-year build conditions; and recommendations for proposed mitigation measures where required.
