Overview

Pare Corporation was retained by the Boston Planning and Development Agency (BPDA) to provide engineering services for the bulkhead replacement project at Pier 5 and Parcel V-1 in the Seaport District of Boston. The purpose of the project was to restore the functioning capacity of the existing bulkhead while preserving the industrial character of the area and improving pedestrian access including installation of a sidewalk abutting the harbor, which was incorporated into the “Harbor Walk.”

Pare provided alternate designs—presented in the form of a Design Basis Memorandum—which included applicable design loadings, Building Code Requirements, permitting implications, and associated opinions of probable construction costs. For the selected alternative, Pare provided Contract Documents and bid-phase services. Construction-phase services were also provided, with the project completed within the available budget.
