Overview

Pare Corporation, under its High-Hazard Intersections Evaluation and Design contract with RIDOT, developed design plans and contract documents for Traffic Safety Improvements on Mineral Spring Avenue (Route 15). The scope of the improvements included the replacement of four existing traffic signal systems with new equipment, the addition of new ADA pedestrian signals, extending the turning bay lane length, installation of fiberoptic interconnections, installation of a new signalized intersection, sidewalk replacement for ADA compliance, and signage and striping upgrades to improve vehicle operations and safety along Mineral Spring Avenue from Charles Street to the Route 146 Ramps.

Other notable design tasks that were completed for this project were preparing and securing right-of-way; conducting an underground utility survey using ground penetrating radar; conducting a subsurface soil boring investigation program; working with the RIDOT Traffic Management Center (TMC) to coordinate and tie-in the new fiberoptic signal system to the existing network; and full pavement resurfacing from the Route 146 ramps to the Pawtucket City Line.
