Overview

Pare Corporation was a member of the Design Team selected by the University of Massachusetts Building Authority to provide programming and schematic design through final design and construction administration for a new 181,000-SF General Academic Building (later named University Hall) and related infrastructure and landscape improvements at UMass Boston.

The new building features state-of-the-art classrooms and specialized teaching spaces for several academic programs including the performing arts, chemistry, computer science, and art departments. The building also includes lounge and study spaces that serve the entire campus community.

During the Schematic Phase, Pare assisted the Project Team with site-related planning activities and participated in regularly scheduled workshops with the University. Several projects on the Campus were in various stages of planning and construction; Pare worked with the Project Team to coordinate with each of these projects so that utilities and site work for the General Academic Building would build off of the work underway.

Pare participated in compiling a list of required local, state and federal permits, coordinating with on-going projects for overlapping permits, and determining timelines for preparation of appropriate application packages.

University Hall was awarded LEED Gold status in 2017.
