Overview

The Providence VA Medical Center recently completed construction on its new surgical suite. This state-of-the-art, $10 million suite is approximately 14,000 square-feet in size. It includes three new general operating rooms, an angiography procedure room, a cystoscopy procedure room, a minor procedures room, an 11-bed post-anesthesia care unit, and surgical staff support rooms. The suite allows the medical center to consolidate a number of surgical functions that were previously located in different parts of the main hospital building.

As part of a multi-discipline design team, Pare Corporation provided site engineering and geotechnical services for the development of the new addition. The site design included site layout and general site improvements, reconfiguration of drainage, and utility modifications. Pare prepared existing conditions plans, site plans, and drainage and utility plans. Pare also performed geotechnical investigations and prepared a geotechnical report. Utility design by Pare included the design of new drainage, water supply lines, sewer, and associated connections to serve the proposed building.
